Hi Guys,
Sean took the kids and I on a weekend outing to Leavenworth, WA. We had a super awesome time and I've posted the pictures below.
We stopped for the night on Friday in Monroe, which made for a short drive after work. I enjoyed the stay in the "big city". We were able to park, eat dinner, go rent a room for the night, then go unload into the room, take a swim and then wander, all without getting back in the truck. It was fun using crosswalks and walking to the store (a Fred Meyer, cuz Sean needed more socks) getting ice cream and then wandering back to the hotel all using sidewalks and urban trails.
It was a fun kick-off to our trip!

On the way to Leavenworth we stopped at the Reptile Zoo just outside of Monroe, WA. This is a really cool place to check out. In addition to the pictures I took and posted below, there were also Black & Green Mamba's, asps, a vast variety of cobras, an albino alligator and a not albino alligator, a big snapping turtle that was all algae covered and much more. We got to hold a little snake, but I don't know what kind it was.
Anyways, if you're in the neighborhood ( highway 2 in Washington state :) ) check this place out, it's WELL worth the stop.

We arrive in Leavenworth and check in to our hotel, after looking longingly at the pool we decide to head downtown to check out the shops and see what there is to see. It was easily 100 degrees, and we kept ducking into shops, some of us to look for more cool stuff (the kids) some of us to get out of the heat (Sean) and some of us just to have fun (me!!!) The heat doesn't really bother me after my upbringing in Michigan, I actually look forward to "frying my brains out". It doesn't actually get warm enough for me here in Whatcom County, so when I checked out the weather report for Leavenworth, WA a week before the trip and saw that we were in for temperatures of 95+ I knew I was in for a treat :)
Another cool thing, amongst the many cool things about Leavenworth is that on the weekends (when all the tourists are flooding the place) they have a live polka band playing in the middle of town, so in addition to the Chicken Dance song we got to hum along to Edelweiss and even cooler Felicity and I could "Tra la lee, Tra la la, Tra la lee, Tra la la ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....." to the Austrian Wanderer song.

This is Felicity's last day of school, Coop's was on Tuesday.
Now I'll have to find a new reason to get up early and take a walk, or maybe ride my bike. It's been fun walking with Felicity to the bus stop every morning. It's a good reason to get my butt out of bed and get a little exercise before I start my day. The weather is finally acting like Washington weather, cool and gray and drizzly with all of the flora bright green. I think it is really beautiful. Of course I also love the sunshine we had for almost 3 solid weeks. I'll be happy when that is back too, but I don't have to water as much if it rains :)
This afternoon I'll be going to check on the growth in the garden and greenhouse. I had 6 out of 11 zucchini plants popping up last weekend, I hope the bunnies don't eat them..... The peas are peaing all over the green house, and I'm eager to pull up a carrot to see if it's gotten carroty yet. I'm pretty sure I'll have to wait a little longer. I picked up some seed potatoes on Tuesday, so I'll have to dig another patch for them, the soil has a ton of clay in it, so we'll have to see how it goes.

Alright Steph, you beat me to it.... I have been promising myself and others that I would make a blog to keep in contact with all of you. I liked Ning, but if you like Blogger, then so be it :)
Just walked Felicity to the bus, I've made my tea, and I can't finish my newsletter until they give me more content. I think I actually have a few minutes of free time! Uh-oh, I have a sink full of dishes that thinks otherwise....
